Talor Battle makes Team USA
ESPN is now reporting that Talor Battle has made the Under 21 Team USA. The whole article can be read at the following links
“The toughest call for the committee may have come at point guard, where Villanova’s Corey Fisher and Penn State’s Talor Battle made the team while Arizona’s Nic Wise, fresh off withdrawing from the NBA draft, was cut, as Battle and Fisher proved to be more efficient shooters.”
This is yet another big day for the Penn State Basketball program. It will also give Talor a chance to get his name out there with people across the country who have not yet seen the talented Junior play. Even if Talor doesn’t end up in the NBA his position on this team can help bring Penn State more attention on the national stage as well as recruiting and more of the positive media attention the program needs.
Accepting invitations to participate in the 2009 USA Men’s World University Games Team Trials were: James Anderson (Oklahoma State / Junction City, Ark.); Talor Battle (Penn State / Albany, N.Y.); Trevor Booker (Clemson / Whitmire, S.C.); Craig Brackins (Iowa State / Palmdale, Calif.); Da’Sean Butler (West Virginia / Newark, N.J.); Sherron Collins (Kansas / Chicago, Ill.); Mike Davis (Illinois / Alexandria, Va.); Corey Fisher (Villanova / Bronx, N.Y.); Lazar Hayward (Marquette / Buffalo, N.Y.); Robbie Hummel (Purdue / Valparaiso, Ind.); JaJuan Johnson (Purdue / Indianapolis, Ind.); Quincy Pondexter (Washington / Fresno, Calif.); Deon Thompson (North Carolina / Torrance, Calif.); Evan Turner (Ohio State / Chicago, Ill.); and Jarvis Varnado (Mississippi State / Brownsville, Tenn.).
