BTN to air 24 hours of Penn State Sunday

Thats right, the Big Ten Network is airing 24 solid hours of Penn State games, basketball and football mainly, but there are a few other things added into the mix. You can check out the full lineup here http://www.gopsusports.com/genrel/061609aaj.html but I’ve picked out a few ones that should be a good watch.

6 a.m. Big Ten’s Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 65, Michigan State 63 (3/9/01)  Nittany Lions upset the Spartans in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The No. 2 Spartans were the highest-ranked team Penn State had ever defeated.

2:30 p.m. Penn State Basketball Story The Penn State Coaches’ Show discussed the season in review.

5 p.m. Big Ten’s Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 85, Michigan State 76 (2/2/08) Missing their leading scorer, but fueled by guards Talor Battle and Stanley Pringle, Penn State upset No. 7 Michigan State.

7 p.m. Big Ten’s Greatest Games Football: Sugar Bowl: Penn State 27, Georgia 23 (1/1/83) In a battle of the top two teams, No. 2 Penn State won its first consensus National Championship by holding off a top-ranked Georgia.

11 p.m. Big Ten’s Greatest Games Football: Penn State 37, Boston College 30 (11/3/84) Despite a great performance by Heisman winner Doug Flutie,  Penn State held off No. 9-ranked Boston College to come away with the upset victory.

4 a.m. Big Ten’s Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 68, Indiana 64 (OT) (3/9/08) After trailing by as many as eight with 11:15 to play, Penn State then won in OT with the play of their freshman.

(If you have a way to watch this game you should, I was at it, and its maybe not worth getting up for, but its worth taping)

First of all the what stuck out to me was the amount of basketball coverage there is going to be. Im sure some of it has to do with how long it takes to show a football game, even edited…but there isn’t a single football related show on til 7 PM–13 hours into the 24. As a person who has worked hard to get the team the respect they’ve earned, Im excited, but still a little bummed that there isn’t more football. But when its all said and done….Im glad to see State get a whole day to itself…I can only imagine how many times the Iowa-Penn State game will get played on Iowas 24 hour day…

Speaking of which…looking at that picture…how did that not get blocked…I know I’ve blocked it out pretty well in my mind.
